(Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Sen. David Vitter today congratulated the New Orleans Saints on their 31-17 victory over the Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLIV, which secured the first NFL championship in the franchise’s history:
“Well, it’s been a long time coming, but our Saints finally won the Super Bowl! Forty-three seasons after watching John Gilliam return the first kickoff in Saints history for a touchdown, I was so proud to join Saints fans around the world in cheering on our team to this huge victory,” said Vitter. “I congratulate coach Sean Payton, Drew Brees, and the entire Saints organization on a tremendous achievement. This is a joyful moment for all Louisianians, and my family and I can’t wait to join in the world’s longest Second Line as Who Dat Nation celebrates this historic win.”

Has the supposedly conservative paper got it in for the GOP?

February 8, 2010 - by Andrew Walden
Judging by recent Washington Times coverage, the Republican National Committee is a hotbed of dissension — even after big GOP wins in Virginia, New Jersey, and most recently Massachusetts. But at the RNC winter meeting in Honolulu, in a series of key RNC ballots on party fundraising and candidate selection, there was not a single dissenting vote. Read the rest of this entry »

GOP Offers Proven Solutions For Job Creation, Economic Growth And Help For Families
GOP HAS REPEATEDLY OFFERED SOLUTIONS TO CREATE JOBS BASED ON CUTTING TAXES
JANUARY 2009: House Voted Down GOP Alternative Stimulus Package Made Up Of Tax Cuts. “The House voted down several Republican proposals, including a substitute package made up entirely of tax cuts for individuals and businesses. Republicans did not say how much their package would cost, although Mr. Boehner said it would be far less than the Democratic plan.” (Jackie Calmes, “House Passes Stimulus Plan With No G.O.P. Earlier this week President Obama released his new budget for next year. I join many Americans who are strongly concerned that this budget includes more than $2 trillion in new taxes on small businesses and middle class families, while adding a record $1.2 trillion in deficit spending. Just one week after the President pledged to present a budget focused on jobs and the deficit, he has sent us a budget that will destroy millions more American jobs and shatter records for deficit spending. it is an understatement to say that wasteful Washington spending is out of control, and must be reversed. Update on H.Res 615: Call on Members of Congress to Enroll in the Public Option
Because you have previously contacted my office by email in support of H. Res. 615, my resolution calling on Members of Congress to enroll in the public option, I wanted to give you an update.
Like many of you, I am deeply concerned that Congress will press forward to enact an intrusive government administered health care plan, despite the higher costs and lowered level of care other countries with similar systems have experienced. Read the rest of this entry »

Dear Miami: Get ready for the Who Dat Nation coming for the Super Bowl
February 01, 2010, 2:06PM
Scott Threlkeld / The Times-PicayuneSaints fans celebrate the overtime win for the NFC Championship on Jan. 24 — and the chance to go to Miami. Dear Miami,
The Saints are coming. And so are we, their loyal, long-suffering and slightly discombobulated Super Bowl-bound fans.
While there’s still time to prepare — although a few hard-core Who Dats will begin trickling in Monday, most of us won’t arrive until Thursday or Friday — we thought we’d give you a heads-up about what you should expect.
First things first: You need more beer.
Yeah, we know. You ordered extra. You think you have more than any group of humans could possibly consume in one week. Trust us. You don’t. Read the rest of this entry »
