The Right Ticket: McCain-Palin

Friday, August 29th, 2008

John McCain has proven once again that he is a true maverick and not afraid to challenge the status quo with a truly remarkable choice for his running mate.  As a conservative woman, I have been following the career of Sarah Palin with interest and pride, often pointing to her as a role model for my own daughter.

Like John McCain, Governor Palin has proven her courage in standing up to corrupt politicians, wasteful spenders, and special interests.  Like John McCain, Governor Palin has even been strong enough to challenge those within our own Party when they do not serve the interests of the voters.

Sarah Palin became Governor by taking down corrupt Republicans in Alaska, and by challenging the incumbent Republican who had forgotten the conservative values that should guide our party.  She is a reformer with solid conservative credentials. She is pro-life, pro-traditional marriage and is a proud supporter of the rights of gun owners.

Most importantly, unlike her counterpart on the Democratic ticket, Governor Palin’s experience isn’t in a broken Washington DC and it isn’t in committee meetings. She has had to make tough decisions and execute those decisions.  Senator Biden has spent decades in Washington, and it doesn’t seem to have improved with his presence there.  Perhaps it’s time we sent a tough woman to do the job.

I commend Senator McCain for his decision and am excited about the chance to see Governor Sarah Palin here in Minnesota in a few short days.
