Those of us in Louisiana again wonder, why can’t we reopen our oil fields in the meantime?

Now this from the Heritage Foundation:

 Next week the Senate will consider a piece of legislation which aims to reduce global warming by “capping” carbon dioxide emissions.  America’s Climate Security Act relies on unproven technology to capture carbon emissions and sets arbitrary restrictions on the use of energy in order to achieve its goals.  If enacted, the bill would be a de facto tax increase of $300 billion annually and cause more economic damage than 16 hurricanes making landfall every year. Keeping the Public in Public Service by John Maginnis

John Maginnis, in his most recent fax update, brings up an unintended consequence (or maybe very intended) in the new ethics laws.  It seems the legislature wants to pull every possible person that serves in anything related to politics, paid or voluntary, into financal disclosure.  While it sounds good…maybe…on the surface, I would venture to say the volunteers or those appointed to small boards are not the ones that have consistently acted unethically.  Regardless, it all sounds like some politicians are just angry because they are losing some “perks”.  As my husband often says, “they don’t get mad, they get even.”
