STIMULUS WATCH: Losing Jobs, Losing Confidence __________ ______________________________ AP ON OBAMA’S NEW “JOB-COUNTING RULES” AFTER ADMITTING PREVIOUS FORMULA NEVER INTENDED TO COUNT JOBS Stimulus Watch: Obama Announces Job-Counting Rules From The Associated Press By Matt Apuzzo Tuesday, June 23, 2009 “The Obama administration issued its long-awaited rules for tallying jobs Monday and warned that local politicians trying to inflate their numbers would surely be caught. “As part of the $787 billion stimulus law, governors, mayors and contractors must begin reporting job numbers to the federal government in October. Fletcher Monday, June 22, 2009 “Despite signs that the recession gripping the nation’s economy may be easing, the unemployment rate is projected to continue rising for another year before topping out in double digits, a prospect that threatens to slow growth, increase poverty and further complicate the Obama administration’s message of optimism about the economic outlook …
