STIFLING CURES, KILLING JOBS

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

As Obama Heads To NIH Today To Defend Failed Economic Experiment, His Health Care Experiment Will Hinder Search For Future Cures And JobsRNC CHAIRMAN MICHAEL STEELE: “It is the height of hypocrisy for the president to give himself a big pat on the back for funding government-run health innovations while he supports a huge tax on private-sector health innovations. There is certainly a role for the federal government in medical research. But government should not punish the private sector by taxing new medical innovations and tools that can help improve care and save lives. The private sector isn’t a cash cow the president can use to finance his government-run health care experiment.” (more…)

UNAFFORDABLE

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

Obama’s Government-Run Health Care Experiment Will Make Health Care More, Not Less ExpensiveOBAMA CLAIMS HIS PLAN WILL MAKE HEALTH CARE AFFORDABLE: “It provides health insurance to people who don’t have it at affordable prices. I would like to make sure that we’ve got that affordability really buttoned down. I think that’s one of the most important things is that if we’re offering people health insurance and we’re saying that people have to get health insurance if it’saffordable, we’ve got to make sure it’s affordable.” (CNN’s “State Of The Union,” 9/20/09) (more…)

FROM THE ARCHIVES: GATES VS. GATES

Monday, September 28th, 2009

Despite Claims This Morning, Obama’s Defense Secretary Touted Bush’s Strategy In AfghanistanROBERT GATES THIS MORNING: “I think that the strategy [President Obama] put forward in late March, is the first real strategy we have had for Afghanistan since the early 1980s …” (CNN’s “State Of The Union,” 9/27/09)

BUT GATES DEFENDED PRESIDENT BUSH’S AFGHANISTAN STRATEGY IN 2007

In December 2007, Gates Lauded Bush’s Counterinsurgency Strategy In Afghanistan. “Where last year there was one suicide bombing per week, now there is on average one per month … Khost is a model of the integration of hard and soft power in a counterinsurgency campaign … I traveled up to Khost Province, which is a real success story. And I think that really, of all of the parts of Afghanistan where we have a counterinsurgency strategy that is fully developed, it is in RC East. And I think it’s one of the reasons why the area has been somewhat quieter.” (Secretary Of Defense Robert Gates, Armed Services Committee, U.S. House of Representatives, Hearing, 12/11/07)

When Obama Talks About What “Health Insurance Reform” Will Do For You, Here Are 8 Things He Doesn’t Mention

#1: THE OBAMA-REID HEALTH INSURANCE TAX

Senate Dems’ Bill Includes Tax On Health Insurance Policies Over $8,000 Per Individual And $21,000 Per Family, Raising Premiums On Many Americans. “The thinking behind the tax is that it would raise hundreds of millions of dollars while at the same time curbing health-care spending by leading insurers or employers to stop offering the costliest plans to avoid the tax, or passing the tax on to employees in the form of higher premiums, which might lead employees to seek cheaper plans.” (Chairman’s Mark, “America’s Healthy Future Act Of 2009,” Introduced 9/16/09; Alec MacGillis, “Ahead Of Obama’s AFL-CIO Appearance, Labor Officials Express Concern Over Excise Tax,” The Washington Post’s“Daily Dose” Blog, 9/15/09) (more…)
