Ruth’s interest in state and national politics grew while producing the Moon Griffon Show, a state-wide syndicated radio talk show. As an activist, Ruth has been a leader in her community and state. Ruth was elected in 2008 to serve Louisiana as Republican National Committeewoman. Ruth is serving her second term as a member of the Louisiana Republican State Central Committee where she served as Vice Chairman of Resolutions and chaired the 2004 Louisiana Electoral College. She is a Board Member for Louisiana Action Council. Ruth was also recently elected to the Ouachita Parish Executive Committee. She is a member of Ouachita Parish Women’s Republican Club and is serving her second term as 2nd Vice President. Ruth is a member of the Louisiana Federation of Republican Women where she served as state publicity chairman and is also a member of the National Federation of Republican Women. A long time community leader, Ruth was actively involved in the founding of the Garden District Neighborhood Alliance and Forsythe Avenue Beautification Organization. Ruth has served on the boards of many local charities and was appointed by the mayor of Monroe to serve on the Historic Preservation Commission. An avid gardener, Ruth is a past president of the Monroe Garden Club and past officer (multiple positions) of the 5th District Flower Show Judges Association. Ruth started the Mother’s Day Out Program at her church and has been active as Sunday School Director, teacher, choir member and worship leader. A long time volunteer in Monroe’s Strauss Theater, Ruth has worked backstage and onstage with numerous Mainstage and Young Troupe productions, where she has received 6 Mainstage nominations for Best Actress. Ruth is a member of Northeast Louisiana Ad Club and has received numerous gold and silver Addy Awards for political parodies. She and her husband, Mark, have one daughter and reside in Monroe, LA.
